We Investigated the USS Salem

Exploring the Haunted Depths: Our Paranormal Investigation Aboard the USS Salem

In our latest paranormal adventure, we ventured aboard the USS Salem, a decommissioned heavy cruiser now docked in Quincy, Massachusetts. Known as the “Sea Witch,” the USS Salem has garnered a reputation as one of the most haunted ships in the United States.

Commissioned in 1949, the USS Salem served as the flagship for the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean and the Second Fleet in the Atlantic. Though she never fired her weapons in combat, the ship played a crucial role during the Cold War era. After her decommissioning in 1959, the Salem was transformed into a museum ship, preserving her rich history for future generations.

Our investigation took us through the ship’s narrow corridors and dimly lit compartments, areas where numerous paranormal encounters have been reported. Visitors and investigators have recounted experiences such as disembodied voices, shadowy apparitions, and unexplained noises echoing through the vessel.

One particularly eerie location is the ship’s operating room, where phantom screams have been heard, and the dental office, where the sounds of dental procedures persist despite the absence of any staff. The kitchen is said to be maintained by the spirit of a former cook, who ensures everything remains in order.

During our time aboard the USS Salem, we utilized various investigative tools, including electromagnetic field detectors and infrared cameras, to detect and document any paranormal activity. Our experiences added to the growing list of unexplained phenomena associated with this historic vessel.

The USS Salem continues to captivate both history enthusiasts and paranormal investigators alike. For those interested in exploring the ship’s haunted reputation, guided ghost tours and investigations are available, offering a firsthand experience of the mysteries that lie within.
